CO2 Purification, Liquefaction and Conditioning
We help CO2 operating teams investigate reported quality excursions, capacity constraints, and product losses. Reviews connect feed-source composition with purification, drying, refrigeration, and low-temperature separation, using the specifications for the intended product or downstream application.

What is the facility doing?
Choose the symptom closest to your operating problem.
Common operating problems
- A food-grade certificate at risk after the feed source changed without a re-baseline
- Refrigeration capacity that fades exactly when ambient rises and demand peaks
- Non-condensables in product, and a vent rate nobody has reconciled against what it costs
- Dryer breakthrough on a cycle set at commissioning and never revisited
- A rectifier profile that has drifted from anything the original balance recognized
What we look at first
- Trace analysis trends against the actual specification margin being run — the guideline set your certificate cites — ISBT or EIGA — not the margin habit says is safe
- Refrigeration condensing pressure and approach against the cooling water or air, and the CO2 condenser approach against the refrigerant, both trended across the season
- Non-condensable venting rate and what leaves with it
- Dryer dew-point performance against the cycle time actually being run
- Feed-source composition history, because a new capture feed is a new impurity set whether anyone re-baselined or not
Optimization opportunities
Operating questions worth investigating.
Condenser approach and summer capacity
We compare condenser approach, ambient conditions, cooling conditions, and load across suitable operating periods to investigate a seasonal capacity limit and identify further checks.
Purity margin against product requirements
Plants burned once by a trace event often run conservative afterward, and the conservatism can bill you in reprocessing and vent losses. We review those losses against your own analysis history while holding the quality requirement your customers' specifications set — how much margin to run above it, and the release decision, stay with your quality system.
Feed changes and plant performance
Fermentation, combustion, ammonia and hydrogen off-gas, and biogas sources each bring their own impurity family. When the source mix moves and the purification train does not, the plant is being run against a balance that no longer exists.
Quantifying vent losses
Non-condensable rejection can carry CO2 into the vent stream. We review the available flow and composition records alongside the quality requirements to assess the loss and its uncertainty.
These are areas for review, not promises about your facility. The introductory call establishes fit and scope. Findings depend on the operating data reviewed during an agreed engagement.
How we help this process
Services for this process.
We review purification, refrigeration, and product analysis records for merchant plants, food and beverage recovery units, and capture conditioning trains. Findings address operating questions without replacing your quality system or issuing a certificate of analysis.
A certificate at risk
Trace excursions, non-condensables, a rectifier off its profile: source first, then the train, from your own trends.
Operations TroubleshootingCapacity and specific energy off their own best
The seasonal gap written down in plant data, with the constraint named.
Performance OptimizationLevels and pressures left in manual
We review pressure and level control response, operator interventions, and the reasons for manual operation before recommending tuning or further checks.
Loop & Controls SupportA capture team new to gas plants
We help crews document the operating sequences and plant-specific knowledge needed for the conditioning train, using their current procedures and responsibilities.
Training & Startup SupportRefrigeration and dryer performance over time
We review refrigeration compressors, condenser approach, and dryer switchovers alongside event history. The resulting watch list complements your existing maintenance program.
Reliability AdvisoryProduct leaving with the vent
Non-condensable venting, reprocessing, and off-spec returns accounted point by point, so purity is weighed against yield instead of assumed.
Argon & Specialty Product RecoveryWorking with your team
Meeting the product specification does not by itself explain plant efficiency or yield.
Your operations and quality teams hold the process and product requirements. We contribute a focused review of the records behind capacity limits, purity margin, and vent losses.
Both founders review the agreed operating question. Findings may cover purity margin, refrigeration constraints, and vent losses, with supporting records, uncertainty, and recommended actions. Product release remains with your quality team.

Your operating and quality teams retain the findings and the feed conditions used in the review, providing context for the next feed-source change.
A plant can produce acceptable product while losing capacity or venting more CO2 than expected. We review those operating questions alongside the quality record.
